One of my goals this year is ferment more…. but I haven’t started yet… here is the kit I will be using this year:

It comes in a very nice box, which I plan to use for storing
the pickle pebbles pipes -n- packers.
say that 5 times fast….
The kit comes with 4 pickle pebbles, 4 pickle pipes, and 1 pickle packer.
These are the pickle pebbles. Isn’t that a funny name? They are glass weights that press down the veggies that you are fermenting, pushing air bubbles out & up.

The kit comes with a little recipe book. I will definitely be using this.
Shrubs are just plain fun! Basically shrubs are vinegar, fruit, and sugar, fermented into a syrup that is then mixed with either water, carbonated water, alcohol, etc. If you enjoy reading cookbooks, especially when they include some history, then you will definitely enjoy this cookbook ~ there is a fair amount of history of these “drinking vinegars” and Colonial times in America, making for an interesting read, here. I’ve purchased shrubs at farmer’s markets, and paid a fair price for it. This year I am going to be fermenting several very exciting things… ginger ale, root beer, and fancy shrubs. I’m also planning on spiking carbonated water with different types of shrubs… and thereby cutting my LaCroix obsession down to a more financially reasonable amount.

Here are links to the resources I will be using this year. The Shrub book has been updated to the 2nd edition, and I will be comparing the 2 versions to make sure the recipes are the same. If they aren’t, then I will be buying the 2nd edition too, which is listed below in an amazon link. The pickling books looks fun, so I’ll be using that this year too, here.

Did you know you can froth your own creamer at home… and make your coffee as fancy as any indy brew house, ha ha? I’ve had this little thing for over a year, and have used it every day. I gave them for Christmas gifts too! super coffee hack. here.
Here’s me pouring in about 1/4 cup of 1/2 & 1/2.
I’ve also used regular flavored coffee creamer, and the frothed right up too.
This is vanilla creme flavored Sweet Drops stevia, and it is da bomb.
4 drops for me, please, sweetie.
so… can you guess which flavor is my favorite? hint… the cap is stained with vanilla, baby.
You’d think a 2 oz. bottle of liquid anything would be teeny tiny and not even worth your time. But people, let me tell you… it’s really a good sized bottle! I mean, I don’t have teeny tiny hands, just normal sized lady hands, but it’s still a pretty big bottle. I use at least 5 drops per day, and one bottle lasts me about 2 months! You can buy the vanilla flavored here.
My second favorite is the clear, then the English toffee, then the peppermint.
